About Mikoko Shop
The Mikoko Shop was established as an official initiative under the Mikoko Development Foundation (MDF) with a clear mission: to provide sustainable income for environmental conservation projects. The shop is dedicated to supporting the restoration and preservation of ecosystems such as mangrove forests, seagrass (marine), and terrestrial forests, which play a crucial role in combating climate change, protecting biodiversity, and supporting coastal communities.
Why Was Mikoko Shop Founded?
The Mikoko Development Foundation recognized that for conservation efforts to thrive, they must be backed by sustainable funding. Traditional donations alone weren’t enough to meet the growing need for restoration projects. Mikoko Shop was therefore created as a revenue-generating project where every product purchased directly contributes to environmental rehabilitation efforts. By providing an engaging way for individuals and businesses to support the environment, the shop ensures that vital ecosystems can be restored and maintained over time.
Each purchase from Mikoko Shop helps fund the planting of mangroves and trees, which cost between $1 and $3 depending on the species. These trees not only protect coastlines and store carbon but also provide resources and livelihoods for local communities.
