About Mikoko Shop

Mikoko Shop is a social enterprise initiative established to support community economic empowerment, sustainable livelihoods, and environmental conservation through ethical trade and market access for community-produced goods. Mikoko Shop operates in collaboration with community groups, partners, and stakeholders in Tanzania.

Legal Status

Mikoko Shop operates as an enterprise initiative affiliated with and/or implemented in collaboration with Mikoko Development Foundation (MDF) and its partners, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations of the United Republic of Tanzania.

Where applicable, Mikoko Shop activities may be implemented through duly registered business entities or special-purpose vehicles established under the Business Registration and Licensing Agency (BRELA).

Intellectual Property

All content, materials, branding, trademarks, logos, product designs, training materials, documentation, and other intellectual property associated with Mikoko Shop are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Unless otherwise stated:

  • Programmatic concepts, community livelihood models, training content, branding narratives, and impact frameworks remain the intellectual property of Mikoko Development Foundation (MDF); and

  • Any technical systems, digital platforms, or tools used in Mikoko Shop operations remain the intellectual property of their respective owners or licensors.

No content may be reproduced, distributed, or used for commercial purposes without prior written permission from the respective rights holder.

Products and Community Engagement

Products marketed or sold through Mikoko Shop are produced by community groups, women, and youth enterprises. Mikoko Shop acts as a facilitator of market access and does not guarantee uninterrupted availability of specific products.

All transactions are conducted in good faith, with a commitment to ethical sourcing, transparency, and fair benefit-sharing with community producers.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mikoko Shop, its partners, affiliates, officers, employees, and representatives shall not be liable for any direct or indirect loss, damage, or claim arising from:

  • Use of information provided by Mikoko Shop;

  • Participation in training, enterprise, or community programs; or

  • Delays, interruptions, or changes in product availability.

Nothing in this Legal Notice excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Tanzanian law.

Any reference to partners, collaborators, or external platforms does not constitute endorsement unless expressly stated. Mikoko Shop is not responsible for the content or practices of third-party websites or services.
